Welcome to the battle of the Double 3s!
Oh this sounds interesting!
SPACE SAMPLES! yes! great brief!
I have to get in on this competition.
7/4 and 13/4 !!!
Last year ADAMSKI released an album in 3/4 (waltz) timing - he did a few interviews that are worth checking out to do with strange timings, I think Sonic State did a video interview with him actually.
I remember that… I think it was SonicState. Would make sense because I think the guy Mark that always shows up is Adamski’s brother. Here is an interesting article I found, with examples: http://www.attackmagazine.com/technique/passing-notes/bored-of-44-other-time-signatures-in-dance-music/
[Unneeded note : the lower number of the fraction 3/4 means that the unit of time is “a whole note divided by 4” = a quarter note. So if you mean a measure of 7 quarter notes you should write it 7/4. That was my 2 pence of musical theory.]
'tis true that 7/4 is 7 quarter notes in a bar, but 7/8 is also a thing - just 7 1/8th notes (quavers) in a bar. The difference is mostly contextual… it depends on where you feel the main pulse. Sort of like the difference between 3/4 and 6/8. It’s about the phrasing, really. And even stuff like 11/16 is technically real, but you’re wading into ridiculous math rock territory there.

Ahah no pb, I just wasn’t sure you were aware of this @wingo, and I felt it was interesting to add a little note (:B) on musical theory…
Oh, I’m so going to do this one.
@wingo Emma’s dream phone is a sick track! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXeBZ-UnZ4w
A big Hello to everyone.
This is my contribution to the competition:

Enjoy!
Oh, I need to make something for this, I love space samples, and 3/4 time music! If you are interested in NASA samples there is a ton of stuff available at archive.org (here: https://archive.org/details/nasaaudiocollection) but I assume that for this competition we only use the soundcloud stuff, right?
Thanx a lot for your help @wingo
…seems that all these various “internet-things” are still riddles for me

well here’s mine, I decided to only use Nasa samples and no internal synths, and I think it’s in a 5/4 kind of feel
Dude, yeah @Overseas_Territory, that’s what I’m talking about! I love that people are getting the idea and experimenting with it. Keep 'em coming!
I’d love to be part of this. I will see if I have the time - also I’m still learning the basics of the machine…
I can’t find any instructions on how to enter. Maybe I didn’t search carefully enough (I’m at work). Do I just upload my entry on my soundcloud and then link it in this thread?
