See https://imgur.com/a/53mc7Aq . I haven’t used my OP-Z for a couple of weeks, busy moving house, and by the time I got back to it I found it like this. The line the tarpaulin is opening on is not even one where the the case is “stressed” by opening and closing, so this looks like a production issue.
I asked TE if they’ve experienced this before, let’s see what they say.
Have to be honest I don’t like the additional space above the encoders. I’ve contacted Decksaver to see if they’ll do a ‘slimline’ version that isn’t quite as bulky. I have no intention of putting knobs on those lovely twiddlediscs myself…

Yes, cannot understand the choice of encoder space, not necessary at all and although I like my OP-1 decksaver, that extra bump means I won’t be getting this particular one!
Wow, something that fits so well in your pocket, now doesn’t because of space for non-existent knobs! Yeah, decksavers need to change that. However I don’t think I’d use their protection on this particular synth. I’ll put it in my bag as it is, or with the TE “life jacket” case.
I think they have been clever to include knob space, as people will fit them. Personally I never will though, much prefer the 4 deck mix master encoders!
I’ll report back here if they respond to my query about doing a ‘slimline’ version of the decksaver. I would imagine most people won’t put knobs on their encoders.
I have replied suggesting that I think few people will go for the knobbed option given the awesomeness of the encoders, but it seems like it’s not economical for them, which makes sense.
I think personally I will stick with the pre-order wrap option for now. As SLiC said, it’s pretty resilient in it’s form factor already.
