PO Repairs & Parts

Soooo,

I got this from r/pocketoperators on reddit and it has helped me replace buttons.

Here are all the noncustom parts for the PO-XX
PO-XX replacement encoder / potentiometer: ALPS RK09K1130AP5
PO-XX replacement jack: CUI SJ-43516-SMT
PO-XX replacement button / switch: ALPS SKHMQKE010
PO-XX replacement LED: ROHM SML-P11UT
I hope this helps someone! Keep beeping and booping!

sooo What about the pin layouts to replace broken glass with some indicators like a clock face or a new SILABS EFM 32? Think they used this from the MOOG Prototype?

Anyone have any ideas other suggestions other than winging it without a screen?

Despite having a case, the input jack on my PO-33 is slightly damaged, and while it still works when sampling with a cable (and some slight jiggling), the mic is not detected when nothing is plugged in. Has anyone had any experience replacing the jack? My soldering is, how you say, inelegant.

desoldering these SMD kind of jacks isn’t terribly difficult
but care should def be taken
if u lift a solder pad off the board your pretty much fucked to put it bluntly

couple approaches
use flux and a desoldering braid to wick away the solder
flux will help this go way smoother. dont be stingy with it.
should be able to wick away almost all the solder so the part will come free rather easily

another is to heat up a pad and GENTLY try to lift the jack away from the pad
go slowly and do each lug so u aren’t stressing it too much on any one side
once u get it sufficiently lifted away u should be able to free the lugs from the pads
this is a less elegent way for sure but it is definately do-able with less tools
solder sucker can be helpful too

either way just go slow and be careful methodical with your approach
if things get too hairy just put the iron down
let things cool down. take a breath. maybe find a new angle if things aren’t going well
and reapproach

it also could just be that the solder joints need to be reflowed (and or the jack needs to be cleaned) and the jack doesn’t need to be replaced at all.
u could try this as an easy attempt before u try to replace the jack
nothing to lose if it doesn’t work. everything to gain if it does.
