PO Beat Repeat Micro Mod // N64 controller style

heres the ally mobbs' beat repeat mod neatly installed on the back of the PO for y'all...

kinda reminds me of the z button on the N64 controllers.
is really easy to reach/trigger while jamming w/ the PO in your hand.

it sounds very different on the KO, than it is w/ RHYTHM (and i'd imagine every PO model).
but u can choose your params that get modulated by the PWM using the pages...tone trim or filter.
so thats kinda cool

used a standard 6mm tactile button like this .>> https://www.adafruit.com/product/367

Looks nice @<a href=“https://operator-1.com/index.php?p=/profile/100/docshermsticks” class=“Username” style=“margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 15px; font-family: “lucida grande”, “Lucida Sans Unicode”, tahoma, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; text-decoration-line: none; color: rgb(66, 157, 168); background-color: rgb(252, 252, 255);”>docshermsticks. Could you make a demonstration video?

a demo of what it sounds like or ?

Definitely recommend doing this mod, super low risk of messing up and still ultra portable. I was going to box up the KO with big buttons like I previously did but the best thing about it is the portability. And the case will still fit too!

Nice find! but what exactly does it do in your PO’s?

a demo of what it sounds like or ?

Yes, a demo of what it sounds like would be nice.

Here’s the po-32s back. What are the possibilities for mods part from beat repeat? What are the other dots for?

there are some vids from ally out there that show what the beat repeat sounds like

i think this is punji’s website?

its definitely a member here (sorry if i got it wrong!)

sorta explains what all the pins are connected to including the group of POGO pins at the top, the screen, knobs, buttons, etc.

the group of pins in your pic are connected to the 2 pots on the front.
the 3 big ones at the top are just anchors for mounting the pots to the board. they may be connected to actual ground
(not the common ground that we are connecting this mod too)

each smaller group of 3 is connected to each pot.
the pots are just simple voltage dividers.
so looking at the back from right to left lugs 1,2 & 3…
lug 1 is common GND, lug 3 is POWER (3V in this case i think)
and lug 2 is the voltage reading from the wiper going to an ADC pin of the micro controller on the PO.

i dunno if it will damage anything, but i would NOT advise hooking up anything to POWER.

Thank you so much for the great answer! I’m really keen on doing the beat repeat mod. Cheers

noice!
