Hey guys I’ve been listening to GrumpySnorlax beat tape in the critiqueue section of this forum. Must say very impressed and stuff like this really inspires me. I always feel like I need to release 10 minute epics!
Just wondering if anyone has links to OP1 only albums or beat tapes, and would like to ellaborate on thier production techniques (ie…loop points, bouncing, live playing recording to album, DAW or no DAW etc).

I made this album entirely on the OP-1. I laid out each track linearly on 1 tape per track. Then cut out/overdubbed bits and pieces. Recorded directly to "album". Used M1/M2 a bit, mostly to automate panning. Mastered in Ableton, but I still consider this OP-1 only : )https://hotscience.bandcamp.com/album/hot-scienceEDIT- the final track is a remix medley NOT done on the OP-1. But, I sent just the tape files to him for use.

Obviously, can be a bit frightening overdubbing, but if you’re careful you’ll be good. It was a really great way to go imo!

Yes mate. I really like the idea using loop points like in a beat tape style of production. But it’s quite hard to create varation doing that. Grumpysnorlax is the master of creating something repetitive that doesn’t lose the listeners attention. I guess it’s an art. Just need to keep practicing

I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but I have a pretty long Soundcloud playlist that I’ve been slowly building up since I got my OP-1 a few weeks ago. It’s mostly ambient, beats, and some techno. I keep it updated regularly with new experiments. Check it out if you have a moment!

Here’s mine 
Here’s a 22+ minute jam made of short loops on one tape. Everything beat is 80 bpm so it fills out the tape perfectly with no gaps from start to finish (no sequencers were used on this, just tape markers and metronome for guides). I was able to fit about a dozen different beats/songs in the 6 minute tape and just added some improvisation to stretch it into a short set. The only samples used are drum hits (not loops) and nature sounds, everything else is pure OP-1. That box I’m running the OP-1 into is a Marantz PMD670 Digital Recorder.
