Equivelant of a Recording "Insert"?

Is there a way to play one of the OP-1 synthesizers, 1-8, and take the audio from the headphone-jack output and routing that to a guitar pedal (or whatever outboard processor that suits you) and then running the output from the pedal back to OP-1’s line-in, and re-recording the processed signal?

I know how to use the ‘ear’ input selector to re-record internally modified sounds, but I want to do the equivelant of what a record-insert would normally permit, while using ‘outboard’ gear.

I know I could record through the pedal to a recorder that is ‘off-board’ and then reimport that to the OP-1, but I am trying to record through the pedal and back to the OP-1 ‘tape’ in realtime while rolling previously recorded tape-tracks.

Any help would be appreciated.

@docshersticks has this great illustration on how to do it: https://www.operator-1.com/index.php?p=/discussion/1647/effect-loop-resample-with-op1
