Bastl Kastle....just got

So this thing is pretty cool, i think…so far…kinda confusing. These cables, though…ehhhhh.
Anybody have any experience with these “jump” cables? Thinner & smaller than patch cables? I think the Moog Werkstatt uses them.
Crazy sounds. Hurt fingers.

It seems to get easier the more you patch it. Did in my case anyway. Bastle have a very good YouTube video explaining how it works. Highly recommended as there are some not so apparent functions

Are you going to use it as a VCO to chain to something else?

I’ve got one on the way, can’t wait. I’m hoping to use it for noisy techno mayhem alongside volca kick and nanoloop mono

… and maybe as sample fodder for octatrack

Love mine for just playing with, don’t really get anything useful out of it though. Recorded a couple of Youtube videos during Jamuary if you want to check them out.

@ghostly606 I saw those! Great stuff

I love mine…these little jump cables, how long do they last? Mine have been getting bent and they seem like they may not last long. Where to get replacements, if needed?

Ghostly606: like what you did with the volca sample. And by the way, I love what you did here. Totally what I’m into. The subtlety of the JU-06, the chorus, delicious. Sadly I don’t have one, but a JX-03 is in sight, and should give me those mellow sounds, i hope.

IdkProbly: The cables are called male to male breadboard jumper wires. cheap as chips to replace

Hot tip: get some crocodile clips to act as banana plugs. These can be attached to regular miniplugs as well, to interface Kastle with other gadgets.

I’ve been making drones in the office with Kastle and Olegtron 4060, great fun! Considering getting a breadboard to use as a modulation matrix between the two. Also, Werkstatt…

Thanks @AudioJack, it’s funny because I’ve actually sold everything from that YouTube video! The JU06 does indeed sound lovely but I really disliked the faders, and not just because they’re small. Knobs ftw! For that reason a JX03 has been on my GAS list for a while…

Loads more tunes like that on my Alonetone page (www.alonetone.com/ghostly) if you’re interested by the way, all are free to download.

Sold even the OP-1?
Was there something you didn’t like about the Volcas?

Love the OP1 and the Volcas, my OP1 had a damaged keybed and couldn’t face the expense and hassle of fixing it and I needed funds to start my Eurorack habit so the Volcas had to go. Will buy again someday.

just got my kit in the mail yesterday. It was kinda fun to put together, apart from having to click the enclosure together at the end, which took some work as I’d soldered the potentiometers in slightly wonky. I’m very glad I bought a circuit board clamp and magnifying glass stand though, those solder connections are tiny!

They look like breadboard wires, you should get them cheap at electronic markets. Or you buy ?rigid? (Not flexible) copper wires.
