Where do you get your samples from?

A google for samples just turns up so much stuff.
I’m looking for an Open Source/CC sample bank of drum samples that I can load onto a volca sample.
Where do you get yours?

http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/ Is probably one of the oldest resources for drum machine samples.

Forgot the license of these, but maybe worth checking out:

Samples from mars is pretty kick ass

I just discovered this, and it is amazing: https://paulnice.bandcamp.com/album/drum-library-vol-1-5

There are actually three collections (through Vol 15), so more than 300 breakbeats total. It’s like, all the breaks. You would have to do some chopping to get the sounds into a Volca, since they are loops, but they sound great. Really crunchy. I don’t know how ‘royalty free’ all these beats are, but if you were using individual hits it shouldn’t be an issue.

Also, I use a LOT of Goldbaby samples: http://www.goldbaby.co.nz/

I hunt on Freesounds all the time. Lots of public domain stuff, individual drum hits, loops, and just plain weird shit.

Would anyone be able to point me to some “fairground” related samples? Things like carousel sounds, barrel organ etc.

Thx

CB

@cloudburst try Freesounds, they have a rather OK search: http://freesound.org/search/?q=Carousel

Vinyl…Pop down your local 2nd shop

Thanks @crudeoperator. Will check it out.

Freesound is cool in that is has all kinds of weird stuff as well. Try looking left and right of your path and go down the rabbit hole of following tags, users, lists etc. I’ve seen samples that were described as fulfilling a request by some other user, so there even seems to be some degree of production by request.
