Recording Synced Operators into Seperate Tracks

I would like to record my pocket operator jams in to my DAW but would like to have the output audio of each operator go to its own seperate track and recored simultaneously, instead of having them all mixed and go into one track. How would I do this? I was thinking a multi-channel audio interface where the audio output from each operator would go into (3) seperate inputs. There would have to be Y connectors between the operators, to keep them synced and split off the audio to the interface. I have not used an audio interface just read about them so I am not sure if I am on the right track or not. Thanks.

You’re on the right track. I use a Rolls passive 4 ch mixer to distribute sync (from Volca FM) to each one separately and separate outputs going to my powered mixer. You can easily use y cables as well. I use this for live playing so it’s all summed at the end, but if you have an interface 3 or more inputs you’re good to.

@sammyjams Great! Thanks for the info.
