Options for Mixing POs

Hi all,

I’m struggling pretty hard with the auto compressor / limiter built into the POs. While jamming I will randomly get drops in volume as the compressor / limiter kicks in on one of the POs in the chain, bringing it and everything else behind it down in volume. No bueno.

I’m trying to find a cheap way to split the audio signal off and mix each PO independently while sending sync between them directly.

Do you think this mixer would work well for that? : http://www.nady.com/products/compact-mixers/mm-242/

General PO mixing / how to deal with auto compressor thread too, I guess!

Hey there, I just made thread showing how I sync and mix my po’s, when doing so in such a manner I have yet to encounter any issues with the compressor/limiter. Here is the product I use, highly recommend as it is very well built and can be used for a variety of tasks.

With the po’s, I’ve noticed if I try to run them directly into a mixer, I have to use something like a y effect send cable as simply using a 3.5" to 1/4" cable produces a very weak signal. Going through this ART passive mixer however brings them all up to usable line level and I can connect to another mixer after it with either one TRS 1/4" or y type effect send cable. It also gives you a volume control for 4 outputs (3 individual + 1 master). For only $50 and the fact it doesnt require power make it cheap and effecient solution for this application, plus I use it for alot of other things as well.

here is my thread on the topic:

Cool, thank you @Siens!

Any chance of it getting produced in a 6 channel version so one could use all the POs at once?

@jjbbllkk A six channel version might come at a later date (or possibly 8 channel) But for PO’s the 6 channel version without the level controls is ok because you just set the levels on the PO’s. BTW the 6 channel looks like this now.

I’ll ping you when I’m ready to take the plunge.

I’m working on an active prototype mixer with sync clock distributor and guitar input, gain control, volume control, etc. Still waiting on parts to assemble it.

Attaching files from mobile is not that effective, but here is a link for a better sized picture https://instagram.com/p/BMjzb90g8x0/

@jn7 Clock distribution would be very awesome. Cutting down on the amount of cables needed to make an external mixing solution work is definitely an interest to me.

can recommend @darenager’s passive mixers. have two 4ch already.

I remember seeing them in another thread and being stoked on them. Awesome that the community has talented people making stuff like this.

Is there any chance that you’ll make a 6 or 8 channel version with trim pots? Setting the volume on the PO’s is alright but a knob is much smoother and allows for more expressive mixing.

Hey hey! I just got into OPs and Volca and looking for a mixer. Do you still make them?
